Our Story and Our Practice

Founded in 1995 and reinvented in 2003, Packawallop Productions has a history of making visually charged theatre that explores identity and the relationship between performers and audiences. In 2026, we began a new chapter built around an ensemble: artists working together over time, allowing the people in the room to shape the work.

Our process starts with shared questions, research, images, text, and improvisation. We return to what we make, testing and refining it until the piece reveals its form. A gesture, a shadow, or a moment of repetition can become the beginning of a theatrical world. As a project grows, we invite collaborators whose voices and expertise can deepen it. We also bring audiences into the process, paying attention to how they encounter the work and what that encounter makes possible.
